Alcoholics Anonymous The official website for Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) support groups.

Al-Anon and Alateen The official website for Al-Anon (for family members and friends) and Alateen (for teenagers) of alcoholics. These groups support the AA model.

DoD Mental Health Self-Assessment (MHSA) Program This site offers a mental health and alcohol screening and referral program for military families and service members affected by deployment and mobilization. This voluntary and anonymous program is offered on-line, by phone, and through special events held at installations and reserve units.  Anonymous self-assessments are available for depression, bipolar disorder, alcohol use, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and generalized anxiety disorder. Individualized results and military health resources, including TRICARE, Vet Centers, and Military OneSource, are provided at the end of every assessment.  This website is available in both English and Spanish.

Military OneSource Military OneSource is an on-line information and referral service, providing members of the military community and DoD civilian personnel designated as Civilian Expeditionary Workforce members with resources, tools, and counseling services twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.  Military OneSource offers twelve free in-person counseling sessions per person, per issue.  For those unable to attend face-to-face counseling, Military OneSource arranges telephone and online consultations.

The website provides a number of articles on substance abuse. Consultants can be reached by phone, email, or through the Internet.  Consultants can help identify substance abuse-related resources both on the installation and in the civilian community surrounding the installation. To contact Military OneSource by phone, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, call Stateside at 1-800-342-9647. The Military OneSource website lists specific dialing information for other countries.

National Center for PTSD This is an official website of the US Department of Veteran Affairs. The site is regularly updated and contains a wealth of information regarding trauma (including combat/war trauma), post traumatic stress disorder, and substance abuse.

National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information (NCADI) This website is hosted by the US Department of Health and Human Services, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. The clearinghouse provides comprehensive resources for alcohol and drug information, including hotlines for individuals with hearing impairments and for Spanish speakers. The website includes a searchable directory of alcohol and drug treatment programs.

National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism This is the governmental authority on issues related to alcohol abuse and alcoholism.

National Institute on Drug Abuse This is the governmental authority on issues related to drug abuse.

TRICARE This is the Department of Defense's worldwide health care program for active duty and retired service members and their families. TRICARE is a regionally-managed health care program that combines the military's direct health care system of hospitals and clinics with a network of civilian health care professionals.

TRICARE Management Activity - Drug Demand Reduction Program (DDRP)  The DDRP was mandated in 1981 and was given the mission to deter DoD personnel from using prohibited drugs. The website provides information on program policy, military and civilian drug testing, and drug abuse prevention and treatment.

US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) This is the website for the government agency that provides benefits and services to veterans, family members, or survivors of veterans. The toll-free number for benefit information is 800-827-1000. The website includes a treatment facility locator.
