Yesterday, I met with law enforcement officials from all over the Panhandle to discuss the proposed Border Patrol station closures in our area. The closures were announced in July without first ensuring that local law enforcement agencies ...will have the necessary resources to deal with the illegal immigration problem in our area. The officials that I met with are very concerned about the station closures, and I share those concerns. That is why I will continue to work with our local sheriffs, police, prosecutors, elected officials and others to keep the pressure on Border Patrol and ICE to provide us with a viable plan of how immigration enforcement will be dealt with if the stations are closed.See MoreMac Thornberry added 3 photos to the album October District Trips.
- Whether I am meeting with community leaders in Vernon, local business owners in Muenster, service clubs, such as Rotary, Kiwanis, and Optimists, or other community organizations, such as the Chamber of Commerce and the Sheppard Military Aff...airs Committee, it is always heartening to be with so many people in our district who are giving of themselves to help our local communities.
