U.S. Peace Corps*

An * indicates that this agency was not required to develop a Plan, but did.

The Peace Corp’s Open Government Plan addresses many requirements of the Open Government Directive, and the agency should be applauded for producing an open government plan, despite not being required to by the President. While the plan does contain a good deal of information about practices currently in place, it is significantly weakened by a lack of details and specifics regarding future plans to increase transparency, participation, and collaboration. The plan would be strengthened by the inclusion of an inventory of data the agency holds, and a plan for releasing data to the public, as well as greater attention to strategies to increase participation and collaboration. Additionally, the agency should have a more robust system for gathering and responding to employee and public feedback on the plan.

If you any think part of the agency's plan is impressive, or you have concrete suggestions on how the agency could improve its plan, please share your ideas with us using the form at the bottom of the page.
