Version 1.1 of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (VA) Open Government Plan reflects impressive progress toward meeting the requirements of the OGD.  The revised plan includes several new initiatives, such as its Blue Button that will enable veterans to download their individual personal health records.  In addition, after analyzing the results of its flagship initiative, the VA is funding and implementing 26 new ideas and has launched a new innovative competition centered on six key priorities for the agency.  Other improvements include plans for greater collaboration with the public and other agencies that advance the goal of making the VA more veteran-centric.  The plan would be further improved by providing the public with more links to agency websites that will allow the public to have greater access to the exciting work the agency is doing.
