Sexual Assault Prevention and ResponseThe Sexual Assault Prevention and Response program is responsible for sexual assault policy at the U.S. Air Force Academy. The U.S. Air Force Academy does not tolerate sexual assault and has instituted a comprehensive policy to ensure the safety, dignity and well-being of all Airmen.

This Web site provides guidance and other information for victims of sexual assault, unit commanders, first responders and others who deal with this sensitive issue. The site addresses confidentiality, reporting procedures and other elements of the Academy's sexual assault policy as well as training information, safety tips, resources and links to related Web sites.

tabPreserving Evidence 
If you have been a victim of sexual assault, you can help preserve evidence of the crime by taking the following steps:
  • Do not bathe, shower, or otherwise clean yourself.
  • Do not change your clothes.
  • Do not brush your teeth or use mouthwash.
  • If you use the bathroom, save your urine for testing at the hospital.
  • Do not eat, drink or take any type of medication.
  • Do not disturb or clean up the crime scene.

Sexual assault training at the Air Force Academy includes:

  • Cadet training
  • Training for commanders, first sergeants, air officers commanding and academy military trainiers
  • Predeployment briefings
  • Newcomers' training
  • Training for permanent party Airmen
  • Summer program training
  • Women's forums

Freshmen (7-8.5 hours):
Introduction: definitions, roles, policies, gender issues, safety measures, bystander intervention.

Sophomore (2-2.5 hours):
Roles, choices, consequences, communication about sex -- verbals and non-verbals.

Junior (2-2.5 hours): 
Prevention behaviors, victim psychology and victim empathy, helping behaviors, holding peers accountable.

Senior (2-2.5 hours): 
Legal implications and leadership roles.
