Rep. Franks: "Taxpayers' Friend"

April 14, 2005—U.S. Rep. Trent Franks recently received a “Taxpayers' Friend” award from the non-partisan National Taxpayers Union (NTU). The ratings are based on every roll call vote affecting fiscal policy (182 House votes for 2004). Each Member of Congress receives a "Taxpayer Score" that indicates his or her commitment to reducing or controlling federal spending, taxes, debt, and regulation. In 2004, 59 Representatives received scores of 74 percent or better, and hence were eligible for the "Taxpayers' Friend Award." Rep. Franks’ score of 85 earned him the fifth best rating in the House. Congressman Franks is serving his fifth term in the U.S. House of Representatives and is a member of the Judiciary Committee, where he serves as Chairman of the Subcommittee on the Constitution and a member of the Subcommittee on Courts, Commercial and Administrative Law. He is also a member of the Armed Services Committee, where he serves on the Strategic Forces Subcommittee and the Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities.
