This symposium brings together international experts to discuss the advances in the diagnosis and management of radiation emergencies and illnesses.
The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) designates this live activity for a maximum of 19.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. ORISE is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Hosted by the Radiation Emergency Assistance Center/Training Site (REAC/TS), a program of ORISE. REAC/TS is supported by the National Nuclear Security Administration.

Radiation Biodosimetry Workshop
The Radiation Biodosimetry Workshop is a satellite meeting of the 5th International REAC/TS Symposium and will be held on Friday, September 30, 2011. Registration for the REAC/TS symposium does not include workshop attendance. Workshop attendance will be limited to 75 people and will be filled on a first come, first served basis. No CME credits will be provided. There is no fee for attendance, however, attendees will be responsible for their own travel and lodging arrangements. To register, contact Amanda Hughes at amanda.hughes@orise.orau.gov. The Workshop will be held at the Hilton Miami Downtown.
The Workshop addresses the over-arching biodosimetry research theme. Topics to be discussed include basic, translational, and clinical research involving use of multiple biodosimetry assays for radiation injury and dose assessment. Session topics and speakers were selected to reflect the active on-going research efforts to identify, validate, and optimize biodosimetry approaches for triage and reference laboratory radiation injury and dose assessments. Morning and afternoon discussion sessions are planned to enable a dialogue amongst Workshop participants. Topics include Hematology ARS Severity Scoring System, Hematology Profile - Radiation Response, mRNA Radiation Response Profiling, Gene Expression Microfluidic Platform, Plasma Extracellular dsDNA, Early and Organ-specific Proteomic Radiation Biomarkers, FISH Assay, PCC Assay, MN Assay, GammaH2AX Assay, Cytogenetic Automation – RABiT, Parallel Microfluidic Detection of Proteomic and Hematological - Signatures from Whole Blood for Rapid Point-of-Care Biodosimetry.
