Antonovich, Chief Executive Officer William T Fujioka and the County’s Quality and Productivity Commission presented the Top 10 and Commission Special Awards to County Department Heads and project teams at the 26th annual Productivity and Quality Awards (PQA) on October 17.The 2012 award-winning projects represent greater efficiencies and enhanced services for County residents and are valued at $168.9 million.

FREE Used Oil Recycling Event in El Monte - On Saturday, November 3, 2012, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the County Public Works Department will host a free used motor oil and used oil filter recycling event at the El Monte O'Reilly Auto Parts, 12034 Valley Boulevard.

There are 88 cities in Los Angeles County, each with its own city council. All of the cities, in varying degrees, contract with the County to provide municipal services. The County provides some services for all residents, like public health protection, public social services, property assessment and vital records.

   Unincorporated Areas
Get information about services provided to residents of unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County. More than 65 percent of the County is unincorporated and approximately 1 million people live in these areas. The Board of Supervisors acts as the "city council" and County departments provide the municipal services.
