Summer in Santa Fe Means the Santa Fe Opera
July1 - August 27, 2011
SF Opera

The 2011 season offers five distinctive operas spanning several centuries of music, each unique and memorable.  It opens with Gounod’s Faust, the timeless story of a man who sells his soul to the Devil in exchange for another chance at youth.  The opera is filled with some of the most beautiful music in all of opera.  Next comes the great Parisian love story, Puccini’s La Boheme.  Third on the schedule Vivaldi’s Griselda, with its first major performance in the United States, and a production that shifts the timetable from the 18th century to 21st century New Mexico.  Everyone will have a jolly time at Menotti’s The Last Savage, placed in the American 60s; think Mad Men goes to the opera, and last, a 20th century masterpiece, Alban Berg’s brilliant Wozzeck.  Nowhere else will audiences find such an array from which to choose.

Whether you are an opera novice or a seasoned aficionado, the Santa Fe Opera is a must.
