Program Support DIVISION (PSD)
The Program Support Division (PSD) provides support and services to the 11 MCR states, MCR field offices, other OSM regions, and other Federal agencies. PSD is separated into a Program and Technology Support Branch (PTSB) and a Technical Services Branch (TSB). The responsibilities of each branch are described on each branch's webpage. The PSD also provides information technology (IT) and program analysis support to the MCR.
Provide technical assistance - including Technical Innovation and Professional Services (TIPS) - to the 11 States and 3 Field Offices within the Region. Process program amendments for 13 State Abandoned Mine Land (AML) and Regulatory programs. Process Mining Plan Decision Documents for mining on Federal lands in Oklahoma and Alabama. Administer the Federal responsibilities for AML Emergencies and Federal AML projects within the Region. Provide Technology Transfer activities for the Region, including seminars, interactive forums, and training. Provide financial assistance for State regulatory and AML programs, watershed organizations, and research institutions within the Mid-Continent Region. Providing ADP support for Mid-Continent Region offices. Provides training to employees within the region. These functions are largely divided between four programmatic and technical teams. The teams are Program Amendments, Federal Programs, Technology Development and Transfer, and Technical Services, and Grants. Special project teams are formed as needed and many Program Support Division (PSD) staff serve on several teams both within and outside the Office of Surface Mining.
