Pitts Receives Farm Bureau Award

Yesterday, Congressman Joe Pitts (PA-16) received the “Friend of the Farm Bureau” award from the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau. The award is given to members who support sensible agriculture policies that help local farmers.

Congressman Pitts’ statement follows:

“I’m pleased to receive the ‘Friend of the Farm Bureau’ award for my work to protect local farms and our district’s number one industry. Throughout my time in Congress, I’ve worked to protect the rural character our area. Through conservation and the elimination of the federal estate tax, we can ensure that family farms keep working and are passed from generation to generation.

“Before the end of the year, Congress needs to complete a farm bill that contains real reforms to end subsidies that distort the sugar market and bring transparency to the price of milk. We have to end the legislative uncertainty so that farmers only have to worry about their crops and their animals, not what is going on in Washington.”
