Meters Approved for Use in Breweries

Brewers and others concerned:

1. The purpose of this industry circular is to advise brewers and others concerned of the approval by the National Office of a new type of meter for use in measuring beer in breweries.

2. Approved meters currently in use for measuring beer in breweries are the Figure 786 Xacto Meter manufactured by Bowser, Inc., Fort Wayne, Indiana, and the Pittsburgh Beer Meter manufactured by the Pittsburgh Equitable Meter Division, Rockwell Manufacturing Company, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The authority for the use of these meters is continued.

3. The new type of meter which has been tested and approved by the National Office for use by brewers is the Figure 486 Xacto Meter manufactured by Bowser, Inc.

4. Inquiries relative to this industry circular should refer to its identification number and be addressed to the office of your assistant regional commissioner (alcohol and tobacco tax).
