PATHWAYS

The Pathways logo, Pathways for Students & Recent Graduates to Federal Careers.Want to gain valuable work experience--with pay--while you're still attending school? Reclamation has a variety of programs that help you do just that.

Starting this summer, President Obama initiated a new, streamlined program for students and recent graduates looking for careers in the Federal workforce. The Pathways Program hopes to ensure you a long and happy career with the Federal government.

The Pathways Program at Reclamation proudly offers something for everyone – whether you would like to begin a career that lets you work in your field of study as you study or you are seeking training and mentorship fresh out of graduation, there is a place for you. With Reclamation, you may even be eligible for permanent employment or other benefits such as tuition assistance, paid holidays, accrued vacation time, sick leave, health benefits, life insurance, and coverage under the federal government's retirement program.

All students in good standing have an opportunity to join the exciting workplace at Reclamation. Whether you are in high school or seeking a vocational, technical, associate, baccalaureate, graduate, or professional degree, there is a pathway for you:

  • Internship Program: This program is for current students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions from high school to graduate level, with paid opportunities to work in agencies and explore Federal careers while still in school. Additional information about the Internship Program.
  • Recent Graduates Program: This program is for individuals who have recently graduated from qualifying educational institutions or programs and seek a dynamic, career development program with training and mentorship. To be eligible, applicants must apply within two years of degree or certificate completion (except for veterans precluded from doing so due to their military service obligation, who will have up to six years to apply). Additional information about the Recent Graduates Program.
  • Presidential Management Fellows Program: For more than three decades, the PMF Program has been the Federal government’s premier leadership development program for advanced degree candidates. This program is now for individuals who have received a qualifying advanced degree within the preceding two years.
