Primary Prevention

The field of public health has defined three levels of prevention: primary, secondary, and tertiary.

The training and resources found on VETO Violence focus on primary prevention.

Our goal is to prevent pain and suffering associated with violence by stopping it before it initially occurs. Throughout the website, you will find that primary prevention strategies are categorized as those that occur "before violence" while secondary and tertiary prevention approaches are labeled as those occurring "after violence".
