Yesterday George met with Diana Paniagua and Carmen Curry, youth members of the Conservation Corps North Bay who live in the Bay Area. The Conservation Corps engage youth between the ages of 16 and 24 in service, education, job training and mentorship.

Diana and Carmen thanked George for his support of Conversation Corps, Youthbuild, and other federal programs that support young people successfully complete high school, advance to college or trade school, and obtain the skills needed to secure a good job.

Student Visit in Washington

UC Berkeley student and Vacaville native Bronson Stocking stopped by our Washington DC office today to meet George and discuss his time spent this summer in DC.

Bronson is participating in UC Berkeley's 'Cal in the Capitol" - part of a UC system-wide program which sends University students to Washington DC for a semester to participate in a full-time internship while continuing their studies.

Earlier this year, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory announced that that Richmond, California will be home to the federal Lab's second campus. In August, George joined Berkeley Lab Director Paul Alivisatos and Robert Hatheway, Assistant Vice Chancellor RESO UC Berkeley to the site where the second campus will be located at the Richmond Field Station

Washington, DC – The City of Vallejo received a $1.15 million federal boost for ongoing downtown revitalization and economic development projects, Rep. George Miller (CA-07) and Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-01) announced today. The funds will be used for the City’s downtown streetscape project that is helping to revitalize downtown Vallejo. 

Cite lack of scientific support, devastating consequences for northern California

WASHINGTON, D.C. Today, several U.S. Representatives from northern California responded to the unveiling of the Bay Delta Conservation Plan (BDCP).  The representatives have been vocal in their opposition to any BDCP agreement that is not based on sound science and will likely cause economic and environmental harm to the Bay-Delta and northern California.

Today I met with Zoe Halsne in my DC office. She is a high school junior from Martinez, California. Zoe was among 250 high school students selected from across the nation to attend the Washington Journalism and Media Conference at George Mason University. This weeklong conference offers a unique series of classes, talks, and hands-on demonstrations to explore career possibilities and gain insight into the field.
