Community Development
As a Louisvillian, I have watched our region transform itself into a world-class city with successful businesses, a broad network of educational opportunities, an award-winning Waterfront Park, new museums, and countless community leaders committed to making Louisville a top destination for families and young professionals. I am proud of this progress, and I look forward to many more developments.
One of the most important components of our continued growth is a comprehensive transportation system. We must invest in projects that alleviate congestion, help businesses transport goods and services efficiently, and get people to and from work easily. Unfortunately, the list of community needs has quickly outpaced available resources to complete these projects in a timely manner.

In addition to investment in infrastructure, we must continue to provide high-quality community services that help families live healthy, productive lives. I was proud to help secure $75 million for Louisville’s new Veterans Administration hospital during the Fiscal Year 2009 appropriations process. With continued federal support, Louisville will reap the benefits of this brand new facility in the coming years.
Lastly, we must invest in job training and education programs to help Louisvillians maximize their workforce potential. This is critical to retaining our business partners and attracting new development to the area. As Louisville’s Congressman, I am working to bring federal resources back to Louisville to strengthen our education system, expand vocational training, and provide workers with the resources they need to build strong futures for themselves and their families.
