Vendor Resources

FAI uses vendors to provide training courses for acquisition professionals.

The Acquisition Workforce Training Fund (AWTF) has opened opportunities for industry to develop and deliver more training to the federal acquisition workforce. FAI holds Vendor Days on a regular basis to provide updates to curriculum and information on FAI's activities and needs to interested vendors. Vendor Days are announced in the Federal Register as well as on the FAI website.

FAC-P/PM Training Crosswalk

This training crosswalk provides currently available FAC-PPM certification training from FAI and DAU, public agencies and academia, and commercial providers. Offerings are arranged by entry, mid and senior levels. Courses are arranged according to the core PPM competency area with which they align.
Training providers listed in the crosswalk have voluntarily submitted their courseware products to FAI using the vendor submission templates and worksheets on this page. FAI evaluates the provider submissions to determine if courseware learning outcomes align (fully or partially) with the core competency areas, and provides recommendations back to the provider accordingly. If a provider’s courseware aligns adequately with the competency areas as determined by FAI, FAI will issue a letter to the provider stating their courseware aligns to specific competency areas and at what certification level.
NOTE:  Training providers are responsible for providing updates of this Training Crosswalk to FAI when their courseware is revised or changed, or when FAI revises the core competency model. Providers may be required to resubmit their courseware products for re-evaluation by FAI when changes occur to the core competency model.

NEW PPM COMPETENCY MODEL COMING SOON!

A revised FAC-PPM competency model is in DRAFT and has been forwarded to OFPP for review and approval. This model provides early notification to training providers of future changes in training and experience requirements for program and project managers. Training providers should begin reviewing this draft model now and determine if courseware changes are required to maintain alignment with the new FAC-PPM competency model.

This draft  competency model is expected to replace the current model before the end of FY12.  The draft model retains the same 7 core competency areas, but expresses the knowledge, skills and abilities expected of program and project managers in behavioral terms as performance outcomes. These performance outcomes are identified in the 7 core competency areas in each of the three certification levels. This new model also accounts for the PPM “aligned skills” and becomes the single reference document for PPM competencies.

Vendor Day Information

November 7, 2012

The Federal Acquisition Institute (FAI) will hold a vendor meeting to provide information on two strategic sourcing initatives; training delivery (commercial off-the-shelf courses) and content development (curriculum development for new acquisition courses).

FAI, through the Central Contracting Office at General Services Administration (GSA), plans to issue two Requests for Proposals (RFPs) in early 2013 to acquire (1) strategically sourced training delivery which includes FAC-C (Contracting), FAC-COR (Contracting Officer’s Representative), and FAC-P/PM (Program/Project Management) certification training courses as well as selected acquisition subject matter electives, and (2) strategically sourced content development which includes curricula development for FAC-C, FAC-COR, and FAC-P/PM certification training as well as agency specific acquisition subject matter course development. RFPs are intended to be used government-wide to fulfill most agency requirements for acquisition related commercial off-the-shelf course delivery as well as new curricula development for new certification training courses and agency specific custom course development. FAI’s goal is to have the training delivery contract(s) awarded by June of 2013 to fulfill the FY2014 – 2018 training catalog and to award the content development contract(s) by September of 2013 to fulfill curricula development efforts for FY2014 – 2018.
