The St. Stephen Power Plant in Berkeley County is located in the rediversion canal connecting Lake Moultrie and the Santee River. Included in the project is a reinforced concrete fish lift located on the north side of the powerhouse. The powerhouse supplies power to about 30,000 homes in the Santee Cooper power grid.
We are so proud to showcase our finished construction and engineering building projects to the public. Here, our District Commander participates in a ribbon cutting ceremony for a recently completed building.
A Post-Panamax cargo vessel, the MSC Rita, docks at the Port of Charleston. Our harbor maintenance efforts and collaboration with the S.C. Ports Authority has allowed Charleston to become the fourth-busiest port container traffic on the east coast. Safe passage of these ships would not be possible without the work of The Charleston District.
Our civilian professionals, engineers, scientists, and military personnel have the opportunity to serve their nation overseas. Here, a Charleston District employee collaborates with native Afghan at a construction site.
The Charleston District conducts work with many other federal agencies, such as the Defense Logistics Agency, through the International and Interagency Support program.
The Charleston District Corps of Engineers places value on maintaining and conserving our natural ecosystems, beaches, and waterways. Here the Corps works on a beach re-nourishment project.
“Building strong”-military construction is a huge part of the District’s motto and mission. Here is our construction of the Drill Sergeant School at Fort Jackson Army Base in Columbia, SC.
Interagency collaboration is a core vale at the District because it contributes to customer satisfaction and a highly successful team.
