December 2011

Commons/Health Care Building Scott Project: FF&E Design is currently being evaluated to minimize impact to the base building, both in time and cost. The AFRH would like to provide the infrastructure for all design changes, regardless of whether the FF&E will be provided at this time. Coordination meetings with AFRH are continually being conducted.

August 2011

Commons/Health Care Building Scott Project: On June 1st Hensel Phelps submitted the Design Development (DD) documents for the building. The DD documents incorporated the enlargement to the building and revisions to the pedestrian tunnel. These include enhanced electrical distribution systems and LEED Gold certification. The design submission (95% Construction Documents) of the Scott Project was reviewed in August 2011.

Submission of the Sheridan Elevator Design to NCPC and CFA was completed on June 2011. The design has received approval from the CFA and is on the NCPC consent calendar in September.

FF&E Design coordination meeting with AFRH are continually being conducted. The FF&E design is being evaluated to minimize impact to the base building.


July 2011

The next design submission, 95% Construction Documents, of the Scott Project is due August 24, 2011.

Submission of the Sheridan Elevator Design to NCPC and CFA was completed on June 26th. CFA submission was placed on the consent calendar on July 21, 2011. NCPC Staff Presentation is scheduled for September 1st.

June 2011

Commons/Health Care Building Scott Project: On June 1st Hensel Phelps submitted the Design Development (DD) documents for the building. The DD documents incorporated the enlargement to the building and revisions to the pedestrian tunnel. AFRH has requested other design changes that will be incorporated in the next design submission. The next design submission, 95% Construction Documents, of the Scott Project is due August 10, 2011.

The Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment (FF&E) for a complete and fully functions facility is included in the BDB contract. The FF&E includes AV equipment, bedroom furniture small house dining room and living room furniture, desks, chairs, filing cabinets, tables, fitness equipment, computers, printers and copiers. Other FF&E items included are kitchen equipment, fixed auditorium seating, AV project screens and exterior benches, chairs, tables and trash receptacles.


May 2011

Commons/Health Care Building Scott Project: On June 1st Hensel Phelps submitted the Design Development documents for the building. The next design submission of the Scott Project is due in August 2011.

The FF&E Design coordinating meetings with AFRH are currently being conducted. AFRH-W Campus Operations, Resident Services, and Health Care are completing the Room Data Sheets “RDS” for FF&E.

Chiller Relocation and Cooling Towers: This work has been completed as scheduled. The chiller/water plant has been in operation for a month.

Information Technology Relocation (IT): This work has been completed.


March 2011

Commons/Health Care Building Scott Project: Hensel Phelps has mobilized to the
site, erected its construction fence and is prepared to begin all hazardous material
abatement on the existing Scott Building. Soft demolition of the upper floors of the
existing Scott Building is scheduled to begin in mid May. Cutting and capping of the
utilities to the existing Schott Building is scheduled to also o occur in mid-May.

Chiller Relocation and Cooling Towers: TEI remains on schedule to make chilled
water by the May 2, 2011 completion deadline.

Information Technology Relocation (IT): Unity CMS has completed construction of
the IT rooms in the Sherman and Sheridan buildings. Dial tone has been established to
the main distribution frames (MDF) in the Sherman and Sheridan Buildings, and Unity is
working with Verizon to identify, terminate, and cross connect pairs.

A fully functional Centrex system is scheduled for mid-May.


February 2011

Commons/Health Care Building – Preliminary Concept Design: The award of the design build contract occurred on February 28, 2011 to Hensel Phelps, and notice to proceed (NTP) is anticipated to occur in early March 2011. The contract completion date is currently on or about January 2013.

Chiller Relocation and Cooling Towers: TEI has completed installation of the electrical duct bank for the new transformer, foundations for the new cooling tower, and erection of structural steel for the cooling tower. The chillers have been relocated from the Scott building to the new chiller room adjacent to the PX.

TEI project will be completed prior to Scott demolition.

Information Technology Relocation (IT): Unity CMS has completed construction of the IT rooms in the Sherman and Sheridan buildings. The plywood backboard, racks and cable tray have been installed, and electrical power has been provided to the racks.

Unity CMS project will be completed prior to Scott demolition.

Design/Build Contractor Procurement: Notice to proceed is expected by early March 2011.


January 2011

Commons/Health Care Building – Preliminary Concept Design: The project is currently on schedule. DiMella Shaffer presented the revised layout of the floor plans to AFRH for review and approval on January 21, 2011.

Chiller Relocation and Cooling Towers: TEI has installed the electrical duct bank for the new transformer, foundations for the new cooling tower, and foundations for the relocated chillers. The existing Scott Building chillers have been disconnected and will be relocated to the new chiller room in the Sheridan Building by mid-February. TEI continues installation of steal beams in the new chiller room, and is preparing to install the condendor water to the cooling tower in late-January.

TEI remains on schedule for a May 2, 2011 completion date.

Information Technology Relocation (IT): Unity CMS has completed installation of GWB partitions, plywood backboards and finish painting of the IT room and Sheridan demark room. CMS is currently installing the seamless flooring in the IT room and setting the exterior HVAC units at the Sherman Building.

Unity CMS remains on schedule for a March 31, 2011 complete date.

Design/Build Contractor Procurement: A contract award date is scheduled for mid- February 2011.
