CDR Inzune Hwang, is a Commissioned Corps family practice physician assigned to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. CDR Hwang evaluates patients at Escuela El Higueral in Guatemala, a small sugar cane harvesting community that has not had access to a health care provider in over 10 years.

On this particular day, the optometry department saw 124 patients and gave out 97 pairs of glasses at the site.

The ship uses ballast tanks to drop its stern and then opens its well deck door to allow entry of the LCU, as shown in the photo. Once the LCU is in the hull of the ship, the door closes and the water is drained so equipment and/or personnel can be removed.
