Fort Lesley J. McNair – Access Control Point East Gate

The Commission approved, with several requirements, preliminary site and building plans for Fort Lesley J. McNair’s new access gate and security checkpoint area. The new base entrance would be located at the intersection of Q and 2nd Streets, SW. This location would provide a secure entry/exit point for pedestrians and vehicles, and is a response to the Department of Defense’s perimeter security and force protection criteria. Upon completion, the temporary access entry at 2nd and P Streets, SW will be closed. The ceremonial entry gate at P Street, SW will continue to function for essential employees and for exiting the base.
