If you have experience overseeing and managing, both technically and administratively, the planning development, and implementation of activities associated with systems analysis, programming, computing, networking services and collaboration in information sciences; AND you want to play a significant role in a dynamic organization, then consider joining the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Library of Medicine (NLM)!  This position is located in the Office of Computer and Communications Systems' Medical Language Branch.

As the Supervisory Computer Scientists, some of your duties will include: 

  • supervising multidisciplinary teams of professionals who conduct research in computer science and information technology;
  • establishing work plans and goals to meet branch program objectives;
  • managing and resolving complex issues recognized as obstacles to the development of language processing systems;
  • providing policy advice on acquisition and procurement of information technology and scientific computing resources.

Qualification Requirements:

You must have a Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.

 

IN ADDITION, You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 level in the Federal Government.   Examples of qualifying experience include: leading, planning, advising, and monitoring existing and new scientific software development for an organization; managing scientific software engineering initiatives to advance the core IT infrastructure and architecture for an organization; researching and creating programs that perform complex data and statistical analysis; developing computational methods and tools for the solution of biomedical research problems.
