The Global Security and Nonproliferation Programs (NNP) develop, coordinate, and assist in implementing domestic and international policy aimed at reducing both internal and external threats to the United States from weapons of mass destruction (WMD). The primary focus is on reducing the proliferation of nuclear materials and nuclear weapons. NNP encompasses technology development, analysis, and deployment programs for:

  • Arms control and disarmament
  • Export control
  • Highly enriched uranium transparency
  • International safeguards
  • Material protection, control, and accounting
  • Second line of defense
  • Russian Federation plutonium disposition
  • United States plutonium disposition
