New!  Educational Resource
The Judicial Learning Center is pleased to announce the new website at:
www.JudicialLearningCenter.org.
  • The site features information about the Judicial Learning Center in the Thomas F. Eagleton Courthouse, and includes opportunities to register for a tour, apply for a transportation grant, or request further information.

    The site also includes content-rich areas for students, teachers, and the public. The Student Center helps learners of all ages explore the judicial branch of government, and test their new knowledge with interactive Student Challenges. The Educator Center provides a variety of resources for teachers of civics, government, and history. There are simple, printer-ready resources and in-depth lesson plans available to correspond with each topic section. Many items are already available, and additional content will be added regularly in the weeks to come.

Girl Scout Career Exploration (Cadettes, Seniors, Ambassadors) Wed Dec 5, 2012, 4-6 PM (check-in begins at 3:30 PM) Thomas F. Eagleton U.S. Courthouse, St. Louis, MO.  Reservation deadline is Mon Nov 26.
  • Working on a journey or a badge? This program will help satisfy many of the suggested career explorations. Interact with female professionals including law enforcement officers, attorneys, and even a federal judge. Learn about how they use skills of leadership, communication, conflict resolution, advocacy, and investigation in their careers. Come prepared with questions.

    The workshop is free, but reservations are required, and space is limited. To register, call Rachel Marshall, the Public Education and Community Outreach Administrator at the Eagleton Courthouse at (314) 244-2410 or Rachel_Marshall@ca8.uscourts.gov

APPOINTMENT OF TWO U.S. BANKRUPTCY JUDGES

The United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit seeks applications from highly qualified candidates for a fourteen-year appointment as United States Bankruptcy Judges for the District of Minnesota. One position is headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota. One position is headquartered in St. Paul, Minnesota. The vacancies will occur on June 1, 2013 and July 1, 2013 respectively.

Inside the Federal Courthouse:
  • The Appeal Process.
  • This program will take you on a tour of the 29-story Thomas F. Eagleton U.S. Courthouse. You'll visit the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit and observe an oral argument. You'll get the opportunity to learn about the appeals process from the clerk of court. The program also includes a visit to the 8th Circuit law library, and many stunning aerial views of downtown St. Louis.

The Judicial Conference of the United States authorized an increase in the electronic public access (EPA) fee, from $.08 to $.10 per page, which will take effect on April 01, 2012.
