Senior Enlisted Leader, Joint Intellegence Operations Center, U. S. Pacific Command

SGM Harrington assumed the position of Senior Enlisted Leader of the United States Pacific Command’s Joint Intelligence Operations Center on May 30, 2011. He was born and raised in Reno, Nevada, and began his military career in August 1987 with basic training at Fort Dix, NJ.

He started his career off as a Power Generation Repair Technician; therefore, he attended AIT at Fort Belvoir, VA and then reported to Airborne School at Fort Benning, GA. His first duty assignment, following airborne training, was with the 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) Fort Bragg, NC, which later moved to Fort Campbell, KY. In 1994, SGM Harrington reclassified to an All Source Analyst. After attending training in Fort Huachuca, AZ, he returned back to Fort Campbell, KY serving as the Operations/Platoon Sergeant for HHC 5th SFG (A). He later transferred to 2nd Battalion, 5th SFG (A) as the Intelligence Sergeant and Senior Intelligence Analyst/Advisor. In October 1998, he was assigned to A Co. 532nd, MI BN, 501st MI BDE, Yongson, Korea where he was the NCOIC of the Combined J2, Plans and Estimates Directorate. In October 2000, he reported to the 1st Special Forces Group, Fort Lewis, WA where he was the Military Intelligence Detachment Sergeant. In October 2004, he was selected to serve as the 1SG of B Co, 532nd MI BN, 501st MI BDE, in Camp Humphreys, Korea. In December 2005, he was assigned to Joint Transformation Command for Intelligence (JFCOM), Norfolk, VA as the Senior Enlisted Advisor where he was selected to attend the Sergeants Major Academy. After attending the Sergeants Major Academy, he was selected to serve as the G2 SGM at HQ United States Army TRADOC Command. In August 2010, he arrived to his next duty station at USPACOM, JIOC Pearl Harbor, Hawaii where he preformed duties as the Operations Sergeant Major. SGM Harrington has participated in Operation Desert Shield, Operation Desert Storm, Operation Restore Hope, Operation Enduring Freedom-Philippines, and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

SGM Harrington was selected for and completed the United States Sergeants Major Academy, Sergeants Major Course, Class 59. He has a Bachelors of Science degree with Excelsior College.

SGM Harrington’s awards include: Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (2) OLC, Joint Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal (2) OLC, Army Commendation Medal (2) OLC, Army Achievement Medal (1) OLC, Army Good Conduct Metal (7th Award), National Defense Service Medal (2), Korean Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (4), Army Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Service Medal, Overseas Ribbon (2), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait), Philippine Presidential Unit Citation, Valorous Unit Award, Joint Meritorious Unit Award (1) OLC, and the Superior Unit Award. SGM Harrington has also earned the Parachutist/Senior Parachutist/Master Parachutist Badge, Air Assault Badge, and the Driver/Mechanic Badge. His foreign jump wings include: Bahrain, Thailand, and Canadian.
