Operational Readiness Exercise Tests Wolf Pack Airmen

KUNSAN AIR BASE, Republic of Korea - Members of the 8th Fighter Wing began exercising the Wolf Pack's three-part mission:  to defend the base; accept follow-on forces: and take the fight north.

An early morning base-wide recall July 12 joined servicemembers in order to test their ability to survive and operate in simulated wartime contingencies for Operational Readiness Exercise Beverly Bulldog 10-02.

"At any given time, we can be called upon to defend the Republic of Korea," said Col. John Dolan, 8th Fighter Wing commander. "This exercise allows us to practice and demonstrate that we are ready."

During the week-long exercise, base Airmen and Soldiers will focus on rendering Self Aid and Buddy Care to injured workmates and also demonstrate their ability to complete the mission in simulated chemical environments.

Although these exercises put these concepts into action, the men and women of the Wolf Pack are ready every day to survive and operate in hostile environments.

"The 8th Fighter Wing remains ready and trained to carry out the orders of the president of the United States, and the commander, United Nations Command, in support of our long standing, peaceful alliance with the Republic of Korea," Colonel Dolan said.

Beverly Bulldog 10-02 is scheduled to run through July 16.
