Okinawa Marine's death being investigated

The Marine Corps said Friday it is investigating the death of a Marine whose body was found on Okinawa.

A Marine Corps' statement provided no details on the circumstances surrounding the death of Pfc. Tray Olivas, 21, of El Paso, Texas.

He was assigned to Electronics Maintenance Company, 3rd Maintenance Battalion, Combat Logistics Regiment 35, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force, the statement said. The telephone system and personal computer repairman joined the Marines on May 17, 2010, and arrived on Okinawa June 13, 2011.

He had been awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon during his service, the release said.
