Meet the Musician

Senior Chief Musician Georgina L. Todd,

Georgina L. Todd joined the Navy Band in 1993.  She is currently the unit leader for the Sea Chanters. Senior Chief Todd was born in Eugene, Ore. and grew up in a military family, living in England, Germany and New York.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts in 1985 from Wells College in Aurora, N.Y.  She studied applied voice at George Mason University and later at American University where she received professional training in opera performance via the Crittenden Opera studio. In 1997, she won the Northern Virginia Music Teachers Association Competition.

 

Senior Chief Todd has been a featured soloist on numerous performances with Sea Chanters and Navy Band as well as made appearances with the Mount Vernon Orchestra, the Chesapeake Orchestra and two full opera productions with the Northern Virginia Chamber Opera.  Her solo engagements include operatic performances for the Secretary of Defense, the Secretary of the Navy, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the Chief of Naval Operations.

 

Senior Chief Todd founded the Navy Blues jazz ensemble, performing with them from 1995 – 2006.  She performed with the Sea Chanters Opera Ensemble from 1994 to the present and served as leader from 2002 - 2005.  As a tour operations manager, she has overseen three Sea Chanters national tours, and she has also served as unit Auditions Coordinator, Librarian, Administrative Chief and Leading Chief Petty Officer.

 

She is an avid skier and an accomplished fine artist.  Her military awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
