Meet the Musician

Master Chief Musician Elizabeth A. Carroll,

Information Systems Chief


MUCM Elizabeth A. Carroll
 

Master Chief Musician Liz Carroll, a native of Doylestown, Penn., joined the Navy Band in 1987.  She earned a Bachelor of Music in clarinet performance and a Bachelor of Music Education from Temple University in 1977, a Diploma in clarinet from the Hochschule fuer Musik und darstellende Kunst (Mozarteum) in Salzburg, Austria in 1985.  She also earned a Master of Music in woodwinds and a Master of Arts in German from Bowling Green University in 1986.  While at BGSU, she was a finalist in the university solo competition, and won the Charles E. Shanklin Award for Research Excellence.  She has performed with the Toledo Symphony Winds and the Capella Cantorum Chamber Orchestra.  Her teachers include Michael Guerra, Donald Montanaro, Gervase DePeyer, Edward Marks, Alois Heine and Kalmen Opperman.

 

Carroll currently serves as the band's information systems chief, managing all computer systems for the command. In addition to her music degrees, she earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in information services technology in 2003. 


In her free time, she volunteers as an EMT-paramedic and a ski patroller.  She enjoys swimming, biking, running and kayaking, and has competed in numerous triathlons.  Her hobbies include Celtic harp and Irish fiddle.
