A Billion + Change is a national campaign to mobilize $1 billion of pro bono and skills-based service by 2013 to address core issues our communities face.
Together we will transform how businesses leverage their employees to make a lasting impact on society by engaging, inspiring, and mobilizing professional talent to build the capacity of non-profit organizations to better meet community needs.
A Billion + Change strategically aligns philanthropy and business goals, and provides a platform for enhanced collaboration, leadership development, and community visibility for the company and its employees.
Companies have found this pro bono approach helps them achieve a “triple bottom line” by adding value to the company, its employees, and the community as a whole. It is a strategic, proven approach that helps the nonprofit sector achieve greater scale, sustainability, and impact while simultaneously providing an outstanding return on investment.
Launched in 2008, A Billion + Change continues as an initiative of the Corporation for National and Community Service. It was reinvigorated in 2011 with expanded leadership under the honorary chairmanship of Senator Mark Warner, it is now housed within and managed by Points of Light Institute.
The initiative is powered by the support of Deloitte and the Case Foundation with additional support from State Farm. This new leadership committee provides visibility, expertise, infrastructure, and financial resources.
In addition to the leadership committee, the initiative structure includes corporations that are founding sponsors and corporations and organizations that have made A Billion + Change pledge.
Our vision is furthered by champions including business associations and non-profit leaders in the area of pro bono service and corporate philanthropy.
