Delta State Rural Development Network Grant Program

Program Overview

The Delta States Rural Development Network Grant Program (Delta) is authorized by Section 330A(e)  of the Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 254c), as amended by Section 201, P.L. 108-163 of the Health Care Safety Amendments of 2003 as further amended by P.L. 110-161 and P.L. 110-117. The purpose of the Delta program is to fund organizations located in the eight Delta States (Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee) to address unmet local health care needs and prevalent health disparities through the development of new and innovative projects in rural Delta communities. The Delta grant program fosters collaborative efforts among rural providers through multi-county projects that address the delivery  of preventative or clinical health services surrounding chronic disease Increasing access to prescription drugs for the medically indigent, and/or practice management technical assistance services. 

Eligibility

Eligible organizations must be:

  • Public or non-profit entities located within an eligible rural Delta county/parish with one of the following Delta States: Alabama, Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee; and
  • Located in a Rural County or Eligible Rural Census Tract within an urban county; or Tribal governments whose grant-funded activities will be conducted within their Federally-recognized Tribal area, or Federally recognized Tribal lands providing services exclusively to migrant and seasonal farm workers in rural areas supported by Section 330G of the Public Health Service Act are exempt from rural requirement).

Availability

The next competitive grant Request for Proposal is expected to be available in Winter 2012 for a August 1, 2013 start date.
