Genomics of model organisms and human biology: Insights from the modENCODE Project

On June 20-21, 2012, The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) hosted a special symposium, Genomics of model organisms and human biology: Insights from the modENCODE Project, at the Ruth L. Kirschstein Auditorium, Natcher Conference Center in Bethesda, Md. The goal of the symposium was to celebrate the project's accomplishments, as it draws to completion this year. At the symposium, modENCODE consortium members showcased modENCODE findings and highlighted the power of model organisms to enhance our understanding of:
- The biology of these organisms
- Fundamental biological processes such as the regulation of gene expression
- Human health and disease
