Description of Project

The Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (Board), in cooperation with NCPC, has prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) to examine the environmental impacts of proposed site improvements and perimeter security at the Federal Reserve Building at 1709 New York Avenue. The Preferred Action proposes a hardened garden wall and bollards integrated into a slightly widened building yard. Other site improvements include additional seating, landscape improvements, guardhouse, vehicular driveway barrier, and site for a future public art installation. The EA was prepared in accordance with the Council on Environmental Quality’s rules for implementing NEPA and NCPC’s Environmental and Historic Preservation Practices and Procedures.
