Lautenberg Responds to Administration as Out-Of-Control Oil Slick Grows LargerSenator Calls Spill 'Absolute Catastrophe"Lautenberg Press Office (202) 224-3224Thursday, April 29, 2010WASHINGTON—Following the Obama Administration’s press conference on the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) issued the following statement: “This is more than a spill of national significance, this is an absolute catastrophe,” stated Lautenberg. “This spill is proof positive that oil drilling is a clear and present danger to our health, our environment, and our economy. That’s why I will not support any energy legislation that does not include protections against irresponsible drilling in the mid-Atlantic.” On April 26, Sen. Lautenberg called for a joint hearing to examine the Gulf Coast spill in the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation and the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources.
