Lautenberg, Menendez Announce More Than $3.1 Million for Community Development, Affordable Housing in TrentonLautenberg Press Office, 202-224-3224Tuesday, October 02, 2012 Newark – U.S. Senators Robert Menendez and Frank R. Lautenberg today announced that the City of Trenton will receive more than $3.1 million in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for community and economic development, and to provide emergency shelter and affordable housing opportunities for low-income families. "This critical funding will spur economic opportunity as Trenton develops decent and affordable housing options for its residents -- both of which are absolutely needed in this tough economic climate,” said Menendez, Chairman of the Subcommittee on Housing, Transportation and Community Development. “I will continue fighting to secure this funding for our New Jersey communities to ensure that all New Jerseyans, especially the most vulnerable, have a roof over their head.” A total of $3,137,301 will be distributed through three HUD programs as follows:
