What is the Security Asset Protection Professional Certification?

The Security Asset Protection Professional Certification (SAPPC) serves as a valid indicator of a security practitioner's ability to apply foundational security concepts, principles, and practices the DoD community deems critical to successfully perform functions, implement programs, and pursue missions necessary to manage risks to and protect DoD assets.

What is required to obtain the Security Asset Protection Professional Certification?

To obtain the SAPPC, you must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Be a Security Fundamentals Professional Certification holder in good standing. A candidate is in good standing once his or her employment status and/or affiliation is confirmed by a DoD Component or Agency.
  • Be designated by your employing DoD Component as an eligible candidate.
  • Successfully meet the qualifying score of the certification assessment.

When will I be able to take the Security Asset Protection Professional Certification?

How do I know if I am certified?

The candidate must earn a score that is equivalent to or exceeds the passing score. Candidates will be notified of achieving or not achieving a passing score by their DoD Component. Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence will conduct a formal review and confer the SAPPC.

How do I maintain the Security Asset Protection Professional Certification?

To maintain the SAPPC, you must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Successfully meet approved continuing professional development units per year
  • Continue to be an employee in good standing (per employing DoD Component or Agency)
