Intern In Senator Lautenberg's OfficeA Senate internship is a great way for young people to see first hand how the Senate and their government functions. I am always looking for young people to intern in my Washington, D.C. and New Jersey offices.
Internships In Washington, D.C.Our office is interested in interns with all majors and background and preference is given to applicants from New Jersey. Interns will be paired with legislative staff based on their interests and experience, and will conduct research, write letters and support the legislative staff. Additional administrative support work will also be required. Internships with unpaid; however, if your institution allows or requires college credit, that can be arranged. We expect interns during the school year to be able to work at least one full day and at least two half-days.
To apply for an internship please submit a cover letter, resume, contact information for three references and one writing sample of no more than five pages (this can be an excerpt from a longer narrative but please indicate such. Internships In New Jersey (Newark and Camden)The Senator has an office in Newark and one in Camden, and interns in those offices will have the chance to take part in state-level operations, including local outreach and casework for New Jersey constituents. Casework usually involves helping constituents with federal agencies, such as helping someone get their visa. We will work to match work assignments with an intern’s interests and background. Interns will also help with administrative support. Internships with unpaid; however, if your institution allows or requires college credit, that can be arranged.
