Corporate Source

Description: The Corporate Source database is a collection of Corporate Authors. Corporate Authors are the organizations and agencies responsible for reports received by DTIC.

  2. Select the" Corporate Source" link in the right navigation menu.
  3. Start your "Corporate Source Search".

Current Issues

Description: The Current Issues pages are based on questions raised by DTIC customers. They will change every several months as new issues related to DoD arise. These pages are not an exhaustive examination of the topics, but are intended to give you a flavor of the sort of resources available to DTIC users.

DTIC A to Z

Description: DTIC A to Z is an alphabetical listing of topics for easier access to information. If a resource cannot be located by navigating the site, DTIC A to Z can help.

DTIC Thesaurus

Description: The thesaurus is an alphabetical listing of subject headings (descriptors) to index and catalog technical documents in the DTIC collections for the purposes of reference and retrieval .

  2. Select the "Thesaurus" link in the right navigation menu.
  3. Start your "DTIC Thesaurus Search"

Information Analysis Centers (IAC)

Description: IACs are research and analysis organizations established by the DoD to support researchers, scientists, engineers and program managers with expertise in all areas of defense research and engineering.

Find it: IAC descriptions can be accessed by selecting the "Information Analysis Centers" link from the banner on the DTIC home page.

Direct links to the individual IAC home pages, are listed in the right navigation menu.

Journals

Description: DTIC hosts Journals/Conferences/E-Book collections that are accessed through the site.

Find it:  

  1. Select"S&T Resources" link from the banner on the DTIC home page.
  2. Select "Journals" from right menu bar.
  3. Individual journal resources are listed.

Obtaining Documents

Description: DTIC reports are available for downloading from DTIC's Technical Reports (TR) Collection. Recently added unclassified unlimited documents are offered to the public as online full-text versions free of charge. Registered DTIC users have access to unclassified limited full-text reports available for downloading and printing though DTIC Online Access Controlled.

 

  1. Select "Search Technical Reports" link from the banner on the DTIC home page.
  2. You may be able to purchase the document from NTIS (National Technical Information Service) if the report is not available for download from DTIC.

Reference

Description: The DTIC Reference Team provides extensive information on topics related to DoD science and technology research, referring you to the right informational source.

Find it: The reference assistance area can be accessed using the "Customer Support" link on the main menu bar located near the top of the page.

Registration

Description: DTIC's Registration Team assists customers with registration eligibility requirements, problems with accessing DTIC Web services, and upgrading the level of access needed to view required information.

Research and Development Descriptive Summaries (RDDS)

Description: The RDDS furnishes narrative information on Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) programs and Program Elements (PE Numbers) within the DoD.

Find it:

  2. Select "Budget & Planning" in the right navigation menu.
  3. Select "Research & Development Descriptive Summaries" .

Search Technical Reports

Description:  The search options include the Quick and Advanced Search for DTIC Technical Reports.

Find it:

  1. Select search "Technical Reports" link from the banner on the DTIC home page.
  2. The "Advanced Search" option is also available from the banner on the DTIC home page.

Simple Search

Description: The simple search includes options to search DoD Sites and Collections, Technical Reports, or the DTIC Web site.

Find it: The "Simple Search" can be performed from the search box on the main menu bar located near the top of every DTIC Web page.

Submitting Documents to DTIC

Description: DTIC facilitates information exchange throughout the Defense establishment and encourages everyone in the Defense community to participate in the program by submitting all appropriate materials for inclusion in our databases.

Training

Description: DTIC provides free training to registered DTIC users at its headquarters and regional offices. Additionally, customized and on-site courses can be provided.
