My name is Adam Hoburg, a proud member of the class of 2015. I am from Chandler, Arizona, which is just outside of Phoenix. There is not much ocean back home so living in New London has definitely been a new experience for me. I come from a family of four; I have one 16-year-old brother and two happily married parents. My father is an electrical engineer and does government contracting for General Dynamics. The diversity of my father’s career as an engineer has played a vital role in inspiring me to pursue a similar major. On the other hand, my mother is a professional clown and balloon artist. So I come from two vastly different educational and career backgrounds. But my family means the absolute world to me and I know I would not have made it here without them.

In my free time I love to be outdoors, I am an Eagle Scout so I have had the great opportunity to develop a passion for backpacking and camping, or just about anything out in nature. I love to participate in sports, I swim and play water polo here at the Academy and I cannot wait for the chance to try something new with the many different club sports offered here. My faith as a Catholic is also something that is very important to me and a great thing about the Academy is that there are so many programs to allow you to stay active with your religion.

I really love it here at the Academy, everyday presents a challenge and I seem to learn something new about myself everyday. But even though life can be hard here, there’s nothing like getting out of bed every morning knowing that you have a purpose and that you are working to contribute to something much bigger than yourself.
