Cohesive Wildland Fire Management Strategy Background
The Cohesive Strategy envisioned by the WFLC builds on successes of the past while incorporating a new collaborative approach to managing a complex national problem—wildfire. This new approach includes all the partners involved in fire management and gives each a voice and a role in addressing a collective problem.

Forums
To develop the national strategy, 15 listening forums were held nationwide (14 in-person and one on the Internet) from April through June 2010 to gather feedback from all levels of the wildland fire management community. Representatives from federal, tribal, state and local governments, non-governmental organizations and the public were invited to participate in these sessions. Over 400 participants discussed their concerns about land management and wildfire related risks. The input from these forums was included in the Cohesive Strategy documents.
