HILL, Va. - In the midst of countless improvised tents and over the banter of thousands of people, the irresistible rhythm and grooves of "Blood, Sweat and Tears" reverberated throughout the campgrounds. The toe-tapping sounds and the screaming guitar shreds enticed the crowds to the stage where a pop ensemble effortlessly played the tunes.

Fort A. P. Hill, Va. -- The exercise scenario for the July 23 exercise began with a simulated 9-1-1 call to the Fort A.P. Hill fire department. Within minutes sounds of sirens growing louder in the distance, alarming that an emergency warranted their attention, firemen and ambulances arrived on the scene of a two-car crash.

KFOR 13 LMTs participate with local summer camp program

Members of the KFOR 13, Multinational Battle Group East, Liaison Monitoring Team, met with more than 40 local children during a Summer camp program in Strpce/Shterpce, July 20. The program, hosted by Strong Start, a non-governmental organization in Kosovo, offered the Soldiers of LMT 7, who arrived in Kosovo only two weeks ago, their first chance to interact with the youth of their sector.

Puerto Rico National Guard-led Battle Group assumes mission in Eastern Kosovo

A new U.S.-led KFOR battle group, predominately based out of Puerto Rico, officially took over responsibility of Multinational Battle Group East today, joining units from six other nations, all of which are supporting the NATO mission of maintaining a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement for all the people in Kosovo.

Military working dogs take bite out of Camp Bondsteel

"Sir, can you please come over here' Sir, come over here ... Get' em!!" These are words everyone should try to avoid hearing, but these are the words Hugo, and the other military working dogs on Camp Bondsteel, are waiting to hear. Camp Bondsteel currently has three Military Working Dogs (MWD) trained in a variety of skills from locating explosives and drugs, to conducting patrols and attacking aggressive individuals.

Running to heal, remember

JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. - Wearing blue shirts with "Run To Remember" on the front and names of the brigade's fallen Soldiers on the back, the ladies stretch, socialize, then join hands. One of the wives says a prayer, then closes by reading names of the brigade's 41 fallen service members. It's a reminder to everyone that war comes with a price, and for the wives who lost husbands, it's reassurance that they will not be forgotten.

"Make love, not war!" chanted a select group of Soldiers, as they clutched cardboard picket signs and made their way through the thick, Virginia humidity toward a platoon of armed, military police officers in an attempt to "protest" anything and everything they could think of. "Give peace a chance," they continued.

No one has to tell us summer is here - a step into the heat and humidity outdoors leaves no question as to what season we're in. One of our garrison Civilians recently went to a movie with her Family. When they returned to their car afterward, they watched the car's outside temperature sensor climb - 110 degrees, 112 degrees, 115 degrees, 117 degrees.

Iraqi logistics unit completes capstone urban exercise

A team of Soldiers from 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division met with the 32nd Company, 8th Iraqi Army Division Transportation Directorate in Numaniyah July 14 to conduct a capstone situational training exercise(STX). The STX focused on convoy operations and was the culmination of more than nine months of training between the U.S. and Iraqi Security Forces that began with basic vehicle maintenance, first aid, and more advanced lessons in reacting to small arms fire and improvised explosive devices.
