Army cuts ribbon on largest child care center

Fort Myer cut the ribbon on its new Child Development Center July 15. This is the largest CDC in the Department of Defense and was built after 9/11 to house children away from the Pentagon. It's 50,000 square feet with three wings, 28 rooms, three playgrounds and a multi-purpose room. It has space for 438 children.

Picatinny items on this yearAca,!a,,cs list include the Objective Gunner Protection Kit, XM982 Excalibur Precision Guided Extended Range Artillery Projectile, M110 7.62 mm Semi-Automatic Sniper System and the Picatinny Blast Shield for the Light Armored Vehicle. All the inventions are designed to keep Soldiers safer when dealing with potentially volatile situations. Since the Army Greatest Inventions program began in 2002, Picatinny teams have won 17 out of a possible 60 Army greatest invention positions. This is more than any other Army laboratory or organization.

LSS Project saves Army more than $9M

A Lean Six Sigma project initiated by the U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command/9th Signal Command (Army), focusing on optimization of the Defense Message System, has resulted in a $9.7 million savings to the Army and could potentially save more than $35 million if all recommended improvements are approved and implemented.
