Chairman Appoints Jennifer Whang as New Administrative Law Judge

Federal Energy Regulatory Commission Chairman Jon Wellinghoff has announced the appointment of Judge Jennifer Whang as a FERC Administrative Law Judge. She was sworn in September 24.

Since July 2009, Judge Whang has been an Administrative Law Judge with the Office of Disability Adjudication and Review at the Social Security Administration. Prior to that, she was an Attorney-Advisor in the Office of Administrative Law Judges at the United States International Trade Commission.

Judge Whang also served in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Tax Division, where she was a trial attorney in the Civil Trial Section. Before that she was a Tax Consultant and Tax Compliance Specialist in the Seattle, Washington, offices of Ernst & Young.

“I am delighted and looking forward to having Judge Whang as part of my team,” Chief FERC Administrative Law Judge Curtis Wagner said. “Her background and experience, especially her experience as a CPA, will be extremely helpful in dealing with our complex cases.”

FERC Chairman Wellinghoff stated, “Judge Whang’s diverse experience will benefit the Commission and consumers.”

Judge Whang is a 1997 graduate of the University of Arizona College of Law. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, with a concentration in Accounting and Multinational Management.
