D.C. Army National Guard Unit Arriving Home from Afghanistan
Approximately 70 soldiers of the D.C. Army National Guard's 273rd Military Police Battalion will be returning home from a 10-month deployment to Afghanistan Sunday, Oct. 14, at the D.C. National Guard Armory.

Sling load operations provide valuable training to Virginia Guard aviators, Fort Lee studentsVirginia National Guard soldiers in a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter provided aviation support to students conducting sling load operations training Sept. 28 at Fort Lee, Va. The students are assigned to the U.S. Army Ordnance School training to be ammunition specialists. In addition to providing realistic training to the students, the sling load training also gave Virginia Guard aviators and crew members the opportunity to work on their own skills and gain valuable flight training time.

Honored during the ceremony were: Brig. Gen. Timothy M. Kennedy, Col. Leslie F. Chisholm, Chief Warrant Officer 5 Larry J. Sharon and 1st Sgt. Merlin E. Ellefson.
