Register to Vote and Request Your Ballot Now!

If you are not already registered to vote, you may do so by submitting a Federal Post Card Application (FPCA). Your FPCA must be postmarked by February 24, 2012, and received by your local New York Board of Elections Office by February 29, 2012. Go to FVAP.gov and get started! It only takes a few minutes! Alternately you may obtain an FPCA from your unit or installation voting assistance officer and at U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide; but you must follow the New York instructions given at www.fvap.gov/request/request-ny.html. Indicate on the FPCA if you would like to receive your absentee ballot by mail, email, or fax. You will not receive a ballot automatically, even if you voted in the November 2, 2010 general election.

If you are already registered to vote, your request for a ballot, either by postal mail, fax, or email, must be submitted and received by your local board of elections on or before March 13, 2012.

To find out the status of your registration/absentee ballot request, contact your local election office or refer to New York’s voter registration verification website at: https://voterlookup.elections.state.ny.us/votersearch.aspx.

Send the FPCA by Email, Fax, or Mail

If you choose to email your FPCA, send it directly to move@elections.ny.gov. If you choose to fax your FPCA, fax the form to the fax number listed below for the county office where you reside. You may also use the DoD Electronic Transmission Service to fax your FPCA toll-free. To use the Electronic Transmission Service, use the cover sheet available in the Voting Assistance Guide, or at www.fvap.gov/resources/media/coversheet.pdf and fax to: (703) 693-5527, DSN 223-5527, or toll-free from the U.S., Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands to 1-800-368-8683. Vote Your Ballot

Candidate information is available at www.elections.ny.gov/.

Your voted ballot must be postmarked by March 19, 2012, and must be received by April 2, 2012, in order to be counted.

You must return your voted ballot and signed affidavit by regular mail, or you can send it via a carrier such as Federal Express, UPS or DSL.

If you are concerned about not receiving your ballot in time to vote, use the Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot (FWAB, SF-186). You can access the FWAB at http://www.fvap.gov/ballot/ballot-ny.html. The FWAB is also available in embassies and consulates and military installations around the world.

Overseas Civilians: These are non-federal elections for State offices; therefore, overseas civilians are not entitled to vote in these elections. Only military voters and their eligible dependents are entitled under New York law to vote in these elections. However, overseas civilians claiming New York as their voting residence are encouraged to submit their ballot request for the upcoming April 24 Presidential Primary election, and subsequent 2012 Primary and General elections for federal offices. Go to FVAP.gov and get started!
