Career Description

Loading an A-10 Thunderbolt with 30mm high-explosive incendiary rounds or assembling bombs for the B-2 Spirit Stealth Bomber are all in a day's work for Munitions Systems specialists. On a daily basis, you'll work with the most advanced munitions in the world, along with the jet fighters and bombers that use them. And since our presence spans the globe, you could be assigned to support our aircraft anywhere from Las Vegas, NV, to Yokota, Japan.

Career Tasks

  • Receive, identify, inspect, store, recondition, ship, issue, deliver, maintain, test and assemble guided and unguided nonnuclear munitions
  • Handle, store and transport nuclear weapons and locally dispose of nonhazardous unserviceable munitions
  • Transport munitions using forklifts, trucks, tractors, trailers, bomb-lift trucks, cranes, semi-tractor trailers and special-purpose vehicles
  • Maintain and recondition munitions, munitions-handling equipment and munitions maintenance and storage facilities
  • Maintain and operate personal computers and the Sperry 1100 mainframe used with the Combat Ammunition System (CAS)
  • Proficient in personnel management, warehousing, electronics, computers, heavy equipment maintenance and operation and inventory management
