Cravaack Statement on March Unemployment

Washington, D.C.U.S. Representative Chip Cravaack (MN) released the following statement today regarding national unemployment:

“Joblessness fell from 8.3 to 8.2 percent last month.  Unfortunately, this small improvement occurred because fewer people searched for work. The nearly stagnant job market has yielded the 37th straight month of +8% unemployment.  Along with soaring gas prices, slow growth and high unemployment are doing little to help the millions still looking for work.  In order to achieve the robust growth our country needs, we must continue to pursue an all-of-the-above energy strategy and commit to addressing impediments to job creation, such as the President’s health care law, threat of higher taxes, and increased regulation.”

Representative Cravaack serves on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee – where he is Vice Chair of the Aviation Subcommittee – the Homeland Security Committee, and the Science, Space and Technology Committee. The 8th Congressional District covers 18 counties in Northeast Minnesota.
