    •  This is pretty cool. Google recently launched a project to map out the flow of small arms, light weapons and ammunition transfers in and out of countries around the world. The result: An interactive visualization that lets the user examine the history of arms trading between 1992 and 2010. http://workshop.chromeexperiments.com/projects/armsglobe/ Note: This site requires a web browser that supports WebGL 1.0, such as the current versions of Firefox, Chrome, Safari, or Opera... but not Internet Explorer (yet).

  5. At yesterday's Association of United States Army (AUSA) National Army Modernization panel, LTG William N. Phillips said, "TIME Magazine got it right in 2003, when they named The U.S. Army Soldier, 'Person of the Year.'"

    Concepts are important because they determine the capabilities our Soldiers need.

    Modernization is broader than just materiel. We need to balance education, training, and experience.

    Acquisition decisions must account for life cycle sustainment costs.

    Col. Ostlund's paper finds that United States' counterterrorism (CT) forces have been employed in Afghanistan since October 2001, when historically the CT forces were a secret organization. Today, CT forces overtly support battlespace owners.
