Subcommittee Markup: H.R. 1690, H.R. 1801, and H.R. 1165
The Committee on Homeland Security’s Subcommittee on Transportation Security met in open markup session on Thursday, May 12, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. in 311 Cannon House Office Building to consider the following measures:
H.R. 1690, (Mr. Rogers) To amend titles 49 and 46, United States Code, and the Homeland Security Act of 2002 to provide for certain improvements in surface transportation security, and for other purposes. The “Modernizing of Documentation and Elimination of Redundant Identification and Security Credentials Act” or the “MODERN Security Credentials Act.” The bill, as amended below, was reported to the Full Committee favorably by voice vote.
- An Amendment in the Nature of a Substitute was offered by Mr. Rogers and agreed to by voice vote.
H.R. 1801, (Mr. Cravaack) To amend title 49, United States Code, to provide for expedited security screenings for members of the Armed Forces. The “Risk-Based Security Screening for Members of The Armed Forces Act.” The bill was reported to the Full Committee favorably by voice vote.
H.R. 1165, (Ms. Jackson Lee) To amend title 49, United States Code, to establish an Ombudsman Office within the Transportation Security Administration for the purpose of enhancing transportation security by providing confidential, informal, and neutral assistance to address work-place related problems of Transportation Security Administration employees, and for other purposes. The “Transportation Security Administration Ombudsman Act of 2011.” The bill, as amended below, was reported to the Full Committee favorably by voice vote.
