Mount Dora Man Sentenced to Nine Years in Federal Prison for Cocaine Distribution and Firearms Offenses
Orlando, Florida – U.S. Attorney Robert E. O’Neill announces today that U.S. District Judge Gregory A. Presnell sentenced Travis Rollins (24, Mount Dora) to 108 months in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during and in relation to a drug trafficking offense. Rollins pled guilty on September 26, 2011.
Rollins was arrested by Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies on January 15, 2011 in connection with Operation Woodchop
– a narcotics investigation into two neighborhood-based street gangs in the Orange and Lake County areas. At the time of his arrest, Rollins had a loaded .45 caliber pistol and a plastic baggie containing cocaine in his possession. The firearm had been reported stolen in Lake County in 2010.
Rollins is a previously convicted felon who was on probation for aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer and leaving the scene of a crash involving injury at the time of this offense.
This case was investigated by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Drug Enforcement Administration. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney E. Jackson Boggs Jr.
